Tribute: On September 6th, Andy and Kim fulfilled their promise to Frosted Face Lady Day.
They shared,
"Even though Lady Day had been diagnosed with severe heart issues before we adopted her, and she had been part of our family for 15 months, it was still shocking to find that she had died in her sleep on September 7th. Thankfully, there were no signs of distress. Lady was curled up as always, right in her favorite bed next to our bed where we had given her “night-night” treats.
The day before was a typical day for Lady, including playing with her toys and running after her favorite squeaky watermelon as I threw it. She went on a car ride with her best friend FF Ziggy. She did her usual happy dance at mealtime, enjoyed a lickimat treat in the afternoon, and everything seemed fine as we did our usual bedtime routine.
We find solace in knowing Lady had such a good final day, and although we were asleep, she was comfortable in her bed surrounded by her family. We are also glad that just the week before, Lady spent a few days with her Fling Mom Ann Tebbetts-Coffeen and her besties Busby & Bri. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Ann for loving Lady with us and always being her “home away from home” when we traveled. How wonderful is it that the sick, matted dog who was abandoned at the shelter 13 years after being adopted as a puppy, ended up with two families who loved her! ❤️
We are also grateful to Lady’s fans, Anais Langley and Diane Parmigiani, for contributing monthly to help with her medical expenses. These included two medications that kept Lady comfortable and extended her life and echocardiograms during re-check appointments. The care provided at FFF Veterinary Hospital is top notch, and monthly fans make it possible.
Lastly, we are grateful to you, Lady Day (aka Wolfie), for being ours. You were the smallest member of our family, but losing you has left a huge void in the house and in our hearts. How I miss the way you greeted me when I came home – with your high-pitched wailing and hopping on your hind legs like you were a pogo stick! You really knew how to make a mom feel loved. The house is so quiet without you squeaking your toys, and I miss throwing them to you over and over again. You were always by my side, no matter what room of the house I was in, and I am still turning and looking before moving to make sure I don’t step on you. It will be a long time before I stop looking for you, Lady Day. ❤️

"My favorite blondie broke my heart yesterday when he passed away after a stroke in the early morning hours. This guy was the most resilient dog ever and he taught me so much: How to slow down, how to not take anything for granted, and how I am capable of much more than I give myself credit for.
I am so grateful for @frostedfaces , a senior dog rescue that takes on dogs just like Tank- dogs who have been let down by people over and over again yet deserve another chance. Tribute: #A5553105 12 year old Marmalade and #A5553103 8 year old Thomas were brought to Downey Shelter as over the counter strays together who were not claimed. On Friday, shelter staff sent an email plea letting rescue partners know that Thomas needed to exit by 4:30pm that day because he had a respiratory infection.
We scrambled and got a plan together, where volunteers Clare Thomas and Jordan Ravens relayed a drive to Downey Shelter, meeting puller Desi Lara to get Thomas to safety. It was then that we learned he had entered the shelter with a second dog, Marmalade, and we never leave anyone behind, so we grabbed her too!
As soon as we unloaded Thomas at FFF we did x-rays and altered the meds that he was on from the shelter to make sure it was the most effective dose and family of meds. He was eating them in Kraft cheese so that was a good thing! Thomas got a nice warm bath to break up congestion and a new collar. Marmalade seems much older than 8, but in good spirits considering her circumstances.
On Saturday morning, Thomas passed out on his potty walk. Stacie ran carrying him inside and laid him on the couch where he was agonal breathing. It was awful, and too late. Where we at least wanted to give him death with dignity, we wanted moreso to cure him and show him real love from a devoted family. We lost Thomas.
We are hopeful to give Marmalade a promise at family and a nice future. We continue to monitor her for symptoms of a URI and are giving her a lot of love.
Thank you to everyone who loved Thomas from afar and wanted the best for him. He deserved better.

"Today is the day Koji’s absence began to tear away at my heart.
We’re always numb at first after fulfilling our promises.
Then our hearts begin to ache.
Seeing his empty bed. Putting away his big ol’ diapers. The giant food bowl no one else can use. Tucking away his collar.
Four days ago Jim laid with him for several hours, asking him if he was done— if he felt ready to head out to the rainbow bridge. He got the answer we dreaded.
Koji was a big loopy long-legged gentleman — truly the most dedicated velcro shadow we’ve ever had the pleasure of loving. He was the classic Black Lab (with Great Dane legs).
This was a dog that cherished his humans— though one of them so harshly abandoned & hurt him. He was open to letting us fill in though, trusting us and letting us ease that pain. His immediate attachment to Jim was a sight to behold.
He struggled with health issues for the last six months— and could no longer get up on his own. We found a suitcase type lift-me-up and proceeded to respond to his every “woof”.
He politely woofed when he wanted to go outside, to get a drink, to change positions or to go on a walk. We happily catered to his every need.
Jim slept with him on the patio when he wanted to. He walked Koji at midnight if he wanted to. We hand fed. We followed him around and cheered him on as he pooped.
What we would give to be still doing that.
But Koji told Jim with a silent, heart-wrenching gaze that all was not well— and that we could stop now and let him go.
We love you — sweet, kind, funny, darling Koji-san. Thank you for giving us one of the best years of our life in dog rescue."

"I went to FF open house and while I was standing in the Littles yard, I felt a little wet nose touch my leg. I looked down and there was Queso staring at me. I picked him up and we sat on a chair and hung out. A few days later I brought my little Starla for meet and greets and I knew immediately Queso was the one.
As soon as I opened the door to the house, he ran in and straight to one of the dog beds. It's as if he knew he was home. He bonded immediately with Starla...even though she played hard to get...and they were cuddle buddies ever since. He had the cutest morning zoomies, loved food, and loved everyone he ever met. He was truly the happiest and most loving dog I've ever met.
Queso was only with us 5 weeks. His little heart couldn't handle all the love he had to give. I thought we would have a much longer time together, but the time we had was worth every second. I'm so glad his little nose found me that day."

"On Saturday February 23rd, our precious Dottiecakes suddenly passed away. Her time with us was much too short and many plans were left unfulfilled. To say we are devastated is an understatement as there was no indication of her illness. I was fortunate to hold her till the end, hoping that gave her some comfort as she attached herself to me from the moment she arrived at her new home. In a short amount of time with us she transformed from a shy, timid female into a sassy, food loving, traveling funny girl. We will miss you, our sweet girl."
